Teresa Anna Baker Szymielewica
June 26, 1944 - March 28, 2014
Teresa Anna Wajdziak Baker Szymielewicz, 69, died Friday, March 28, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Warsaw, Poland daughter of Jan and Lydia Jankowski. In 1956, she moved to England to escape the depression of Poland where she owned and operated a bed and breakfast inn. She sold the inn in 1979 and relocated to the United States settling in Statesboro, Georgia and later to Tybee Island where she owned The Eating Place on Wilmington Island and The Seafood Place on Tybee Island. Teresa was a vibrant, enthusiastic, independent and stylish woman that loved her Lord. She loved to travel and helping the less fortunate. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul William Baker.
Surviving are her husband of 13 years, Wojciech "Jerry" Szymielewicz of Savannah; sons, Yan C. and Bonnie Baker of Savannah; Bobby R. Baker of England; Kim Faxon of Savannah; mother, Lydia Szumowski of Savannah; brother, Mark and Sandy Hord of Statesboro; grandchildren, Logan, Gavin and Josie; niece, Rachel and great niece, Lily; step-children, Patrick and Roxanna Szymielewicz of Poland; cousin, Bob Hordecki of Australia and many loving friends.
Visitation: 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 31, 2014 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Teresa was a wonderful caring person i learned that firsthand, she was beautiful inside and out , she was smart,funny,without trying,she always made me smile ,laugh,and,giggle to myself just by being Teresa. Teresa was a wonderful mother,daughter,wife,and grandmother,and friend to many,Teresa always knew how to get things done even with her illness which did not slow her down it just made her more resourceful just in a different way,Teresa was a strong,spiritual,forgiving,loving person who taught me alot. i always told Teresa she made me feel special . Teresa was also an animal lover,she loved her joe and maggie and i know they loved her also.teresa will be very missed . i loved her very much .
